چکیده

Abstract In the present work, Zn-HA composites were developed by powder metallurgy route targeted for bone implant applicaitons. powders with varying HA content (1, 2, and 4 wt.%) ball milled 1 hr sintered to produce composite compacts. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies done all No impurities observed in powders. Microstructural observations revealed formation of lamellar structure due plastic deformation Zn during milling. Grain size measurements decreased grain increase addition HA. Furthermore, aspect ratio (length thickness ratio) grains was measured found that also increased content. Higher microhardness compared pure Zn. However, 1% has shown higher hardness remaining composites. Form preliminary observations, it can be concluded successfully produced morphology milling followed sintering biomedical applications hardness.

Rosette Nanotube (RNT) and Nanophase Hydroxyapatite (HA) Composites for Orthopedic Applications

Orthopedic implants fail due to various reasons such as extensive bacterial colonization, poor osseointegration, extensive inflammation and osteolysis due to wear debris. In order to reduce orthopedic implant failures, the main objective of this study was to create a biomimetic bone tissue engineering material based on the self assembling properties of rosette nanotubes (RNTs), the osteoconduct...

Engineering and Functionalization of Degradable Scaffolds for Medical Implant Applications

The treatment of bone defects is facing the situation of lacking donations for autotransplantation. As a valid approach, scaffold-based tissue engineering combines the construction of well-defined porous scaffolds with advanced cell culturing technology to guide tissue regeneration. The role for the scaffold is to provide a suitable environment with a sufficient mechanical stiffness, supports f...

Citrate-based Biodegradable Injectable hydrogel Composites for Orthopedic Applications.

Previous studies have confirmed that natural bone apatite crystals are bound with citrate-rich molecules. Citrates on apatite crystals impact bone development and its load-bearing function. However, such understanding has never been translated into bone biomaterials design. Herein, a first citrate-based injectable composite material for orthopedic applications is developed based on our recently...

A perspective on nanophase materials for orthopedic implant applications

In the past, synthetic conventional materials have not served as satisfactory implants. As an example, the current average lifetime of an orthopedic implant (such as hip, knee, ankle, etc.) is only 10 to 15 years. Clearly, such conventional materials (or those materials with constituent dimensions greater than 1 micron) have not invoked suitable cellular responses to regenerate enough bone to a...
